    New E-911 Facility

New communications infrastructure is providing the latest technology to meet mandated digital service, which allows county-wide coverage.

This $10 million project came about as the switch from analog to digital necessitated plenty of planning.

Housed in the new Sumter Police Department headquarters, this state-of-the-art facility is the first in South Carolina to use color-coordinated status bars, which allow supervisors and telecommunications operators to know if they are engaged in calls or available.

Just like the entire Sumter Police Department headquarters, the E-911 Facility is designed to expand as needed over the course of the next 50 years.

This facility became operational early in the summer of 2018.
